WHO AM I? by Suzie Daggett
The Who Am I question is either a guiding light for transformation or one completely off someone’s radar. For me, I love getting to know my inner/outer self as I continue to investigate: Why am I different? What causes me to do what I do? What elements of my ego or soul lead my way? How can I be a better person? What do I want/need out of life?
Since I was a young girl and had an unknown voice give me some life guidelines, I have been attracted to knowing this other part of life – my soul essence. In high school I read the few popular metaphysical books around at the time and began to move away from organized religion. I investigated my soul purpose, my soul’s personality, my souls needs and my intuition.
WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DREAM? by Suzie Daggett
My dream began with wonder on 11-11-11 at 11:11 am (no kidding!) and ended 13 months later in frustration, tears and sadness. On that fateful day, my inner guidance directed me to a quiet spot of beauty overlooking a large pond with geese, ducks, and warm sun. I sat with no specific intention, just silently drinking in the space when I heard two words in my left ear – Seekers Central. Wow! What a cool name. I raced home and checked the domain name, which was available, so I grabbed it not know yet what I would do with this gem. The next month, I sold a business to concentrate on another.
However, due to changes in the economic climate, I ended up deconstructing the second business. Since I had time, I began to focus on what this new business was or could be. I created a vision for Seekers Central: a compendium web interface between spiritual seekers and teachers to address the Who Am I question. I spent 13 months of planning, thinking, writing, dreaming, scheming, talking, visualizing, wanting, wanting and more wanting Seekers Central to come to fruition. I looked for co-creation partners, as the idea was broad with depth and character.
THE VOICE by Suzie Daggett
In the middle of my twelfth year, I was sitting alone on a patch of hot scraggly grass at a small Catholic school. It was odd that I was alone since I was a ring leader and top noise maker at recess. While sitting there, I distinctly heard a kind loving voice say: “What you are being taught is not for you.” Huh? You mean the information imparted from school, religion, society and my family? Who was this voice? Was it an angel, my higher self, a protective spirit? I had no idea. I innocently said ok to the voice and myself, jumped up and ran to join the others. Interestingly, I was not afraid or bewildered as this interaction seemed perfectly natural to me. At my young age, I had no idea what to do with this message. I did not tell my mom or friends. I allowed it to be.
A few days later, a stronger light bulb went off. I was walking behind some nuns and overheard them discussing what the parish priest wanted them to teach us. I instantly knew that the information they would teach was required by the church and priest rather than what they deeply believed in their hearts. Aha! Their internal beliefs were not theirs or mine – this information was not intended for me. Good to know.
I FLUNKED MEDITATION – DID YOU? by Suzie Daggett
Starting a meditation practice can be so confusing. To some who follow an established Eastern or spiritual approach, the cushion, body alignment, chanting, no thought and special breathing techniques approach is mandatory. It is part of their discipline and teachings. Those who practice this type of mediation are satisified.
For the rest of us, confusion reigns. Our knees will not bend right, our back hurts, we do not follow a guru or specific way of life, our thoughts are roaring loudly the moment we shut our eyes, we do not like to shut our eyes, we do not understand/comprehend/like the sound of chanting, we resist the idea of traditional meditation, we don’t know how to breathe deeply and thus, we feel we have failed. We flunked meditation. Lots of us.
FOUR KEYS TO THE INTUITIVE PROCESS by Suzie Daggett
Max saw Wendy and her date from afar. He knew her only slightly, but in his first millisecond of thought, he got the message: “she does not belong with him.” He forgot all about this incident until a few years after his wife, whom he adored, died and he saw Wendy again. Slowly, they started dating. Surprisingly, Max had found someone he felt so comfortable with, someone who he did not think would be his ideal mate, but someone whom he oddly and deeply connected with. He termed this a weird incident. I suggested he change the word to ‘remarkable’ because that is what is was. A millisecond moment that changes your life when you least expect it and many times do not recognize the spark for what it is. Remarkable.
Max did not know this, but he had used all the 4 principles of the Intuitive Process when he first saw his future mate years before. Wendy and he belonged together.
Once you know how to recognize your intuition, you can live a remarkable, flowing more self-directed life. You will have the capacity to know yourself better, synchronicities will align, decision-making can be lightening fast and your trust level for an optimized life will bloom. Max was just beginning to understand this when we spoke..
THE ELEGANCE OF DIVINE TIMING by Suzie Daggett
As a good seasoned spiritual being, I set intentions, ask and pray for guidance especially when I am in the throes of change, incompletion or indecision. I ask my guides (and yes, they have names and personalities) I ask my angels, I ask Source, God, Jesus, Buddha, Mother Mary, Saint Anne, the fairies – you name it, I include them in my daily litany. Mother Earth, Father Sky let’s not forget them. I write…Hello Universe, here is what I need: followed by specific directed instructions for my immediate needs, desires and wants. Please. Thank you.
And, what happens? Sometimes, there may be an answer, a hint via intuitive guidance, movement towards the perceived goal, or the goal itself achieved. And, sometimes nothing happens. NOTHING! An empty blank canvas. NOTHING! Am I asking for the wrong things? Do I not believe enough? Am I not spiritual or soulful enough? Or, does it come down to divine timing, not human ego wanting/needing.
TRANSITIONAL TIMES REQUIRE LASER-BEAM FOCUS by Suzie Daggett
Transitional times may be pushing you to discover your true self. You may find you are ready to shed old personality habits, old life styles and old emotional actions during this creative and deeply thought provoking time. With the loss or change of a job, partner, home, spiritual upset or sense of purpose, you may be suddenly presented with a blank slate of the unknown. The old model of highly structured ways is collapsing, making way for a softer more spacious way of being. This means you will need to be resilient while remaining open and courageous while watching things crumble around you; adventurous as you test new waters; intuitive as you journey through roadblocks.
To activate your new self, it is important to find what really lights you up – what makes you tick, what makes you different from others? What causes you to feel deeply and smile broadly as you discover that which you love. Perhaps you have forgotten about your childhood dreams, your young adult desires, or your deepest soul intentions?
HELPFUL CHEERING ANGELS by Suzie Daggett
Our car keys vanished. We searched our pockets, retraced our steps (it had only been 10 minutes) and then called AAA. They opened the door, which made the emergency horn blast, which can only be turned off by a key or closing the door. Urrgghh! We assumed the key was inside the car, but as we riffled through each piece of accumulated stuff and did not find it, a small ripple of distress and fear began to grow. We were in a small mountain village attending a wine & art event. Our hotel was 45 minutes away. I was attending my high school reunion in a few hours.
This was looking and feeling worse than dire. My splayed out mind was in disarray while my soul was quietly asking to be heard. I started asking my angels and the Universe for help then I contacted the newspaper and left my card in case the keys were brought in as lost and found. I let the wandering security personal know about our lost keys. I went to the event booth where I also left my card, almost in tears. At this point, we needed to get some lunch and settle our fearful minds and stunned hearts for a moment as we considered our situation.
FROM RIGHTEOUS TO CALM by Suzie Daggett
I admit it - I can be so darned self righteous and morally superior. It is not pretty. I have watched my ego take off in a hypocritical manner, blasting my dearest friend, the one I love and care about most in the world. How did this happen? What form of reckless behavior was I exhibiting? I know better, yet I let my defense driven ego have its way with my mind. Yes! I am right and he is wrong, no doubt about it! My heart was not consulted and my soul was left to fend for itself. I was wrapped in a selfish tunnel of confusion and spite. The emotional verbal bombs that I threw in so many directions made me dizzy, disoriented and unhappy. My spiritual life went poof in an instant.
The egocentric nature of a reactive righteous stance is energetically toxic. It is an unconscious ingrained situation just waiting to be acknowledged, revealed and brought to life for change. I now recognize the signs of an oncoming egocentric attack and step out of the reactive chatter to create a calm demeanor.
HEARING YOUR SOUL'S NEEDS by Suzie Daggett
Second by nano-second, our souls are giving us useful guidance. If we are dedicated to hearing our inner soul, long-term life changes can be quite dynamic. The discovery of what your soul needs brings delight, surprise and a sense of wonder. When you start actively listening to your soul, a different world emerges. You are under the guidance of something larger, something ‘more’ something, which feels compellingly mystical and cannot be explained. You will be stepping into an unusual zone of discovery. Will you find what you are looking for? Will you find time and energy to understand your life lessons? Will you have the trust, patience, awareness, courage, dedication, desire and truly active inner listening skills to move from your ego based life to a more soul centered awareness? Or, will your world be rocked and your belief system challenged beyond comfort?
Any or all of these scenarios can happen and they can overlap in the process. Soul discovery equals change yet it does not mean you will instantly become a fully enlightened soul. By questioning your soul needs, you will be lighter and more content as you become conscious of the variety of choices in your life.
