CLARE + POSEY: Divine Will ~ Personal Will
May 23, 2014
Dear Clare & Posey,
Can you help me understand the difference between Divine will and personal will? “Thy will be done” is a phrase which I say daily knowing we humans are designed with both free will and the will of Source, and I prefer to follow the will of Source, but I wonder where my will fit in this equation? How can I determine if I am operating in Divine will or personal will?
Clare – from my soul point of view, you are in concert with Divine will when you are in the flow of life, when the issues of could, should, or would are not running your thinking or actions. Source energy or Divine will are your soul and spirit champions and they have a distinct plan for you to live your best most fulfilling life. Attuning to Divine will means being consciously aware to live with love, kindness, respect and openness. If you find yourself in a situation of pushing back, striving or moving forward with pure intense personal power, will and perseverance, you might have jumped to using your personal will to do something. Listening to and following the subtle nuances of Divine will is a soul trust issue – do you trust that Source is guiding you to discover the best for your life? Do you find that your faith in the Divine wavers dramatically especially when things are not going according to your plan? How about Divine plans – can you find your way back to essence and remember that Source always has your best interest at hand? As humans, we tend to mess up when we believe we can override the Divine! Ha – just wait and see if at some point you say to yourself: “Oh that – I wish I had not tried so hard to put my personal agenda ahead of my soul needs.”
Posey – well, this is tricky because, as you know, I am the ego’s invention and believe that I can use my strong willed personal power to gain control of any given situation and override the Divine. I make your head and heart fill with worry about what if’s, why should you, what would happen if…and, you listen, you really, really listen and then act. You listen because it is ingrained and reinforced by cultural and familial conditioning. More than once in your life, your probably heard or thought: “don’t be a wimp – get in there and use your will power to get the job done”. Push through, make it happen, don’t let your fears drive you, work harder, you can do it no matter what! That’s personal will talking and taking over so you can feel in control of a situation, so you can feel the essence of pride and accomplishment at your prowess – false or real, the ego does not care. If you gave yourself over to the Divine, you might be considered soft, lazy, unreliable, crazy, woo-woo or misguided. I say, keep looking at how you choose your words and deeds in each moment and you will see if you pushing your own agenda or the Divine’s.
