. . . soulful musings and mindful reflections on everyday living
Putting your soul in charge of your life
September 26, 2014
Dear Clare & Posey, I recently heard Elizabeth Lesser, co-founder of Omega Institute say this: “Put your soul in charge of your life.” Can you elaborate on what she is suggesting?
Clare: As your soul self, this is a very clear and exciting message. She is suggesting that to live deeply and fully in this human/soul experience, operate from the basis of living a life based on what your soul is here to learn and teach you rather than one focused solely on the outer trappings of everyday life. We each have a specific purpose to fulfill in this incarnation and this is a wonderful time to tune into your inner world, the place where your wisdom lies, where your soul lives, where your intuitive self resides to find your specific soul spot. Spend time listening to what goes on in that beautiful arena when you are in the midst of decision making or changing your mind about something. What is the real trigger for a good long lasting decision? If recognized, it is a flash of clarity from your soul speaking to you rather than a drawn out rational thought.
You have a choice in every moment to find the best course of action for you – and only for you. This could be about a job, a relationship, moving to a new place or a change from your school or career. If you start considering and blindly following what people want for you, instead of what you desire for yourself, you have strayed from letting your soul be in charge of your life. You are then letting the outer edges make a decision for you rather than what you soul desires. Your soul will need something very different from your ego. Most likely, your soul is asking you to discover and live love, peace, kindness, open creativity, awareness and happiness.
Posey: This is a new take on a spiritual life path. I do what to warn you that you have to work hard to hear your soul since the whisper is so soft and most of the time my endless mind chatter overwhelms the soul voice. You can relate to that, correct? That is the way of the human experience from my point of view. I can be defensive, noisy, loud, and interruptive while Clare is soft and touches your inner senses in a millisecond. Who do you hear? Most likely, me.
I am not sure I agree that you are here on earth to learn lessons as Clare proposes. You might be here just to be here. You might be here to be successful or a looser, who knows? Listening to your soul is a full time job. Isn’t it much easier to know what is expected of you by listening to your boss or family, reading materials that keep you in your place, remind you your are a separate individual with no connections to anything larger than life, etc. If you want to let your soul be in charge of your life, you are in for a big change. You have to find continuous ways to quiet me, you have to stop listening to all the chatter in your current world and you have to agree to live life differently from most of the population. Is that agreeable? If not, maybe you can compromise and seek some kind of balance. Good luck!
